On Monday 27th February the Story Makers (a diverse group of young people from Blackburn and Darwen) held the preview performance of The Monstrum at Darwen Library Theatre to an invited audience of parents and friends, plus two people from the National Theatre Connections project. These were: Psyche Stott, who is our Connections Director, to support us in the next phase, plus Christina Lydon, from Octagon Theatre Bolton.
The group were incredibly nervous, but this is not surprising: it’s a long and challenging play, we have a couple of members who have English as an additional language; they only met each other in November, missed four weeks over Christmas and then, during February, two people had to drop out, meaning a lot of last minute reshuffling, rehearsal and frantic line-learning! Psyche picked out lots of positive and useful
points, making a few suggestions for development. Our next performance is on Saturday 11th March, (audience arrive at 5.30pm; show starts at 6pm) at Friends Meeting House, Paradise Terrace, Blackburn BB2 1LY. Pay what you can. This is a small space; please contact Kerry Tuhill if you want to come and support. Or you can still donate to our crowdfunder
